(Photographs), 2007 - Present
The Age of Enlightenment proposed a split
between the body and the mind, allowing,
theoretically, for totally rational thought. But
quantum mechanics and cognitive science show us
that we cannot create a picture of reality without
distorting it.

This series of photographs, which I refer to as
Straight Photos, are "straight shots,” free from
digital manipulation or compositing. The pictures
are made in the instant of capture when the shutter
is clicked, including the level of abstraction,
color, patterning and layers. They are produced as
pigment prints on paper.
In addition, animations are also created from
Straight Photos including
The Unbearable Lightness of 15
seconds, Part II, 2008
and
Roundabout Before Through Behind,
2006.
